If you're in lock-up or drunk at a gay-bar you can't be surprised if someone wants to give your rear a lustful poke. But anal-rape shouldn't be part of shopping for skateboard equipment. You should be able to enter a skate shop without a clenched sphincter and leave happy and intact.

There are lots of stores with "skateboards" on the shelves, but after luring you in with low prices, they gladly sell you an inferior product that will break by day's end. Sounds like getting screwed to me!

Don't let low prices at discount stores, toy stores or sporting goods stores bend you over and assault you from behind. And don't let competitive prices on web sites fool you into thinking you're getting a bargain - they'll charge plenty for shipping and handling. Stop by your local skate shop where you'll find quality products, competitive pricing and maybe a nice girl who'd like you to be "bent over" by a hardcore skater.

Uninformed skaters/consumers need your help. You can lend a hand and help support local skate shops by downloading these SYLSS "Crappy Skateboard" WARNING LABELS (4-up PDF files) and stick 'em on those crappy products you encounter in the mall, discount stores, toy stores and sporting goods stores.

Only independent skateboard shops sell quality products that won't break or fall apart in the first 10 minutes of use. Boards purchased from crappy department stores and gluttonous box-stores are unsafe and will usually result in unnecessary injuries.

Your local skate shop is the only place that cares about you and ensuring you get high quality equipment. Department stores, toy stores and sporting goods stores only want your money. Independent skate shops want to keep you as a customer by helping you get the best products available.
