4 skaters in 21 days cover 3500 miles in a 1977 Winnebago - referred to as the weenabago - from Vancouver to Huntington Beach, CA. Why?
Because they thought it would be fun and they wanted to. That's the best reason for going on a road-trip.
Initially, I thought this was going to be a lame rip-off of Thrasher's King Of The Road series. Quickly, it became evident that this was going to be a fun adventure spanning the West coast's best skate spots full of local rippers. They created a very personal up-close look at a group of friends having a blast while touring the coast in a broken RV.
The largest hurdle was getting through Customs at the Canadian US border. Apparently they were detained while the RV was searched. Its always a good idea to know where and why you are crossing from one country to another. Of course a 1977 RV may be a good value on the dollar side, the numerous breakdowns would have driven me crazy. I would have torched it after the first day - even though I'm a huge fan of all things retro... even broke-ass RVs.
The Extras (bonus) stuff was a lot of miscellaneous footage spanning the trip. If you couldn't get enough before the credits rolled, check it out.
Overall, I was jealous of the good times they had on this trip. It looked like a ton of fun and I recommend this DVD.
Check out the sequel to this flick, Weenabago Projekt 2 - Crossing America.
