This review of "Badass Meets Dumbass" is based on the free promo disc distributed at skateboard shops.
This is a cool DVD as it's free and it achieves several goals. It was put together with Panasonic to promote their electronics line of products. However it does so with out screwing up (constant over-promotion) the flick.
On July 29, 2006 the Girl and Chocolate skate teams left Torrance, CA on a US tour marking the first time that nearly every rider (from both teams) was together on tour. The two vans cruised the countryside hitting such towns and states as Phenix, Arlington, Atlanta, Myrtle Beach, Raleigh, DC, Milwaukee, Ohio Kansas, San Diego, Denver and more. All this was edited down to 25 minutes of great skating.
Like all Girl Film projects, the end result always has a cool fun vibe. They look like they had a blast even though they slept in vans on the way to some of the demos - no sleep. At the same time they always search for new terrain like a stack of mattresses. You've never seen an ollie to grind until you see it done on a stack of mattresses - the pop is phenomenal.
This disc exudes creativity, style and gnar. Go snag a copy at your local shop - it's free. Don't give some ebay scumbag the satisfaction of selling you a copy. Get a friend to burn you one.
Remarkably, this is the only place you'll find reference to Panasonic or it's product line - these 2 skateboard themed commercials. Ok, they have their logo on the DVD's cover and would like you to visit their sharetheair.net website (where you could fan-out over the large assortment of Ryan Sheckler product endorsements - but it now looks like they dumped him), but their promotion on the DVD is very under the radar. Most companies beat you over the head with their logo, brand and products.
