Backed by a ton of companies (Matix, DVS, Ogio, Independent, the Land of Plenty, Diamond Supply, and Krooked), "Get Familiar" is a film by Chris Hall featuring Darren Harper, Casey Rigney, Zach Lyons, Mark Gonzales, Bobby Worrest, Daewon Song, Donny Barley and a ton of guest appearances. It was filmed in Washington DC, New York City and Los Angeles over a two year period.
Getting familiar with something or someone isn't always a good thing. Sometimes you get familiar with a girl (or guy) and later realize they're a complete jerk. Then you get familiar with cheap booze to ease the pain and soon after you get familiar with the required number of Aspirin it takes to nuke your hangover. Been there... and I've gotten all too familiar with mediocre skate videos. Haven't we all?
Thankfully, Get Familiar falls into the "Damn Good" category of skate flicks. Helped along by top pros, high energy and a great soundtrack... could you go wrong? Wrong is always an option, but this sometimes quirky DVD will keep your attention, motivation and perhaps piss you off that you suck compared to these guys.
Of note is the controlled flailing style of Mark Gonzales. Gotta love the Gonz... from street to pipes his style is flawless until he generates one of his on-camera flinches. He loves the spotlight and fortunately he as a lot to offer it.
