Jereme Roger's house

No red sweaters or over-zealous happiness in Jereme's hood... just skateboarding.

Fred Rogers' TV show, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, was the longest running show on PBS. I still remember watching it as a kid and thinking to myself that "something just isn't right about this guy". He was just too damn nice. Nobody I had ever encountered was as nice as this guy, even for a reverend.

I was all into the Electric Company and Sesame Street, but Mr. Rogers always spooked me a bit. Then I grew up and felt quite nostalgic about the whole thing when he died in 2003. But things seemed to get very weird. The first series of episodes occurred from 1968 to 1976 and the second series was from 1979 to 2001. Essentially, we're talking about a lot of repeats. Immediately following his death, there were discussions of how to explain it to children.

He didn't die on the TV. All the episodes have been taped. Were they planning on propping his corpse on the set and doing a "Weekend at Bernie's" continuation of the show? "Don't mind the strings, kids. My hands don't work the way they used to." Whatever! Besides... The Brady Bunch is still around in syndication. Does anyone wonder why those brats never age? We all understand repeats and the basic principal of passing time.

Jereme Roger's Neighborhood was pretty good. The most elaborate feature was selecting stereo or surround sound options. Um... Ok. Aside from some post-credits footy, there's no bonus stuff here. Enjoy the 30 minutes... just like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Hmm....
