Whenever you get the opportunity to check out an indy shop vid - do it! Sometimes they suck, but sometimes you'll get a rare gem that shows both great skating and film making. "Rhode Island Skateboarding - Never Heard of It" is a very cool film. The parts are well done and the skating is top notch... even though you may never have heard of any of the skaters.
Mainstream skateboard vids always show the same spots over and over. Indy flicks will take you places you never knew about. Filmed in Providence, RI, Cape Cod, Northern VA and Washington, DC - there are plenty of new spots to see these guys destroy.
The main parts are well filmed and edited. This isn't just a dump to iDVD and "Here ya go". You'll see cool effects and transitions along with a solid soundtrack with a variety of different styles of music - not just a ton of hip-hop.
In all likelihood, you'll never find this DVD in your local shop - unless you're out in the North East - but always keep an open mind to indy vids and shop vids. It's really cool to find one that shines like this one. Well done, Nate!
