There's a special place in my heart for videos that show irate onlookers (or security guards) yelling at skaters. It flames my desire to be part of skateboarding's sub-culture that craves individuality in the face of everything.
The opening sequence shows a rollerblader circling above a flight of stairs as if sizing up the jump. After a few looks, set to a cool metal buzz, he goes for it and lands on his ass with a nice head-slam. The camera pans away with total disregard for him. RDS is hard core and raw. These guys are cooler than you AND they know it.
The camera work is very edgy and close to the action. In addition to some great skating, Rob Boyce's part stands out. If you haven't seen him, he's all muscle and not the sort of guy you'd want to mess with. His part opens to a black screen and the sound of a ringing phone. Rob is getting a call from the studio. He's told they've selected the music for his part; The Backstreet Boys tune, ‘Everybody'.
"If you do that," Boyce mutters, "You're f__king dead!".
‘Everybody' begins to play and Boyce's part fades in. Actually, aside from how damn funny it is, the music goes really well with his part - synched up and everything. Very well edited even though the trax are a goof.
Safety section containing all sorts of slams, Ben Hestie, Ross Remix, Jody Morris photo gallery and a commercial for Transworld Skateboarding mag.
