I'd love to see a Skater of the Year video that showcased only the current Skater of the year. I'd also like to win the lottery, date a porn star (for 2 hours) and invent a self-cleaning tank for Sea-Monkeys. As you may guess, I don't always get what I want. Oh yeah, I also want Eddie Van Halen to teach me to play guitar.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a whole DVD of just the current SOTY winner's footage? Hell Yeah! So often we have to suffer through short parts in sk8 videos showing just a sliver of what our sk8 heroes are capable of. I think it would be cool as all hell to have a DVD dedicated to just one rider - the SOTY.

Thrasher's "Skater of the Year" is a actually a look at all the SOTY's from Tony Hawk's win in 1990 to Tony Trujillo's win in 2002. Jake Phelps is on hand to inject anecdotes and show us that you can still be hardcore in a pair of thick black-framed glasses. Not the first guy you'd visually guess as a driving force in skateboarding - he seems like a cool guy.

This DVD progresses by year with interviews and footage of each rider. Some segments were longer than others. They also featured commentary by other pros. Skater of the Year is bestowed on a rider each year, sometimes twice as is the case for Danny Way. He won in 1991 and again in 2004.
