"I got into skateboarding because it wasn't a sport" -Duane Peters
Narrated by Mofo, Black Label's long-awaited documentary of the life and crimes of Duane Peters, chronicles decades of hardcore skateboarding and punk rock music. This biopic lays out the twisted tale of one of the most influential skateboarders and punk rockers to grace (and disgrace) the world. From the infamous Death Loop and pro-circuit battles to garage bands and world tours, Who Cares covers decades of Duane's days - past and present - as a peerless innovator on a skateboard and a tireless frontman in a punk band. It also looks at Duane's broken-home fury, his near-fatal addiction to drugs and booze, and his ongoing bouts with sobriety. Featuring interviews with friends, family, photographers, and legendary skateboarders.
Throughout the documentary you'll notice a dearth of Duane. There's plenty of back-in-the-day skate footy, but not too much from the man himself (he's still alive). Towards the end they sort of let on to why he wasn't more prominent in the interviews. Aside from "F#&k Off!", he has little to say. I don't mean that in a demeaning way. He's a helluva rad guy, speaks his mind and doesn't care what anyone else thinks about it.
Aside from his eccentric attitude and behavior, Duane Peters was always on top of his skate game. His style was ahead of his time and some of his signature slides are still outside the grasp of today's top skaters. He was the first to do a 360° loop - someone go tell Bob Burnquist.
On the DVD, you'll find music by Black Flag, Bad Religion, X, the Crowd, the Deadbeats, the Wierdos, 20/20, Contribution, Political Crap, U.S. Bombs, and the Hunns.
